WELCOME!

Where our journey began?

We had the pleasure of meeting our first bullmastiff in 2000. We were looking for a breed that was calm and composed, one which didn't require great amounts of exercise. Another important consideration was the need for a QUIET breed, a dog that would not bark incessantly.  Our search brought us to the beautifully confident bullmastiff - and so our journey began.

Our first boy, Dexter, was from a breeder in Pietermaritzburg - Scottswold Bullmastiffs. We got him in 2000 and he truly lived up to the Bullmastiffs incredible reputation. From that moment on we were in love with the breed and we have only had Bullmastiffs since. Over the years we have had Bullmastiffs from other breeders in South Africa and this is where we started to notice an issue - the breed was deteriorating. I hold an unwavering loyalty to the breed and feel it needs to be protected. To preserve the magnificence we, as breeders, have a responsibility to diversify the bloodlines by seeking new genetics from Bullmastiffs abroad. We started breeding in 2010 and after a few litters realized that the South African bloodlines were under threat as the conformation did not live up to the international breed standards. Some puppies started to resemble  cross breeds with longer noses, smaller triangular jaw lines and lighter bone structures.

In 2013 we met Jeanne Robinson (from Juohn bullmastiffs) and her incredible animals. She has spent millions importing new bloodlines from all over the world and has played a pivotal role in reestablishing this breed in our country. We got two females from Jeanne and she agreed to allow breeding rights on one condition - we do not mix these beautiful preserved bloodlines with the South African bloodlines. This is where we made the bold decision to stop breeding with our South African Bloodlines and had them spayed and neutered.

Cody was our first female from Juohn bullmastiffs and she was a gentle kind girl that loved lounging around. Unfortunately she passed suddenly following a suspected poisoning (she ate EVERYTHING) and at the time there were a few incidents of dog poisonings. Cody did not have any litters as we had not sourced a suitable male yet.

Cody's sisters Callisto and Cheri came to us in 2016, they are featured here on our website. We then imported a male from Italy (approved by Jeanne) to reignite our breeding journey.

Our hope is to build the Bullmastiff gene pool and continue the work that Jeanne did. These dogs are, in our biased opinion, the best breed in the world and through responsible breeding we can uphold their majestic reputation.
